The idyllic rural setting also has the convenience of Derby City only 5 miles away and the market town of Ashbourne within 7 miles.

Many local country pubs offer delicious home-cooked food and a number of nearby villages which provide shopping facilities: Brailsford is approximately 3 miles away and has small convenience shops, a larger supermarket in Mickleover is approximately 6 miles away, and a variety of fashion and other stores can be found in Derby City and the Derbion Shopping Centre.

Although you have booked a self catered cottage for your holiday or event you don’t always want to be slaving over a hot stove all day, especially for a special celebration. At Gainsborough Retreats we have done the hard work for you and tried and tested some local catering companies! We will be happy to provide you with a list of our approved and recommended local companies who can arrange anything from an intimate private dining menu in your cottage to a larger function for up to 52 people on the site.
